Do I Need to Prepare for Permanent Makeup?

Yes! It is very important to note the following before booking any procedure. Abstain from all blood thinners 7 days before your procedure!

Examples include:
  • Advil, Ibuprofen, Excedrin, Aspirin, Coumadin, Warfarin
  • Fish Oil, Vitamin E Oil, Primrose Oil, Magnesium, etc...
  • Alcohol and possibly Caffeine

Some say Vitamin K can used before in order to help "clot" your blood before a permanent makeup procedure. In my experience, thin blood has been known to cause bruising, swelling, discomfort and an overall poor result for permanent makeup or any other similar procedure.

For those with prior history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes simplex you must obtain a prescription from your doctor and take before, during and after the procedure. Lysine or Oil of Oregano are also helpful. (Lips only)

Any tweezing or waxing should be done at least 48 hrs before procedure. Electrolysis should be done at least 5 days before. Try not to book a procedure during your menstrual period, you will be far more sensitive!

Eyelash tinting and perming should be done at least 48 hours before procedure.

Avoid any lotions or oils containing mineral oil 2 days before and the day of procedure. Avoid the use of glycolics, Retin A, Renova, Accutane, or any alpha-hydroxy products 1 week before and at least 2 weeks after.

Use Arnica to aid in the healing process (to prevent bruising and swelling) before and after.
Please consult your own doctor regarding any medications you are taking and whether you are are good candidate for permanent makeup.
